Man enters Colleton house, caught rummaging through woman’s purse

A 32-year-old Colleton County man is charged with multiple drug offenses and with first-degree burglary after he was caught breaking into an Adeline Lane house in Colleton County. 

According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the female victim told authorities that she was home alone when the incident occurred. She said she walked out of her bedroom and caught the suspect standing in her living room, going through her purse. 

The suspect was detained by law enforcement inside the house: according to the incident report, deputies ordered the man onto the ground at gunpoint. While searching the suspect, officers also found that the man was carrying a 9 mm handgun, which was found inside his pant pocket. 

The man is charged with possession of crack cocaine, first offense; possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime; first-degree burglary; and possession of marijuana, first offense. No one was injured in the incident. 

Criminal Domestic Violence case 

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office stopped a motorist in Round O and ultimately charged him with third-degree domestic violence and possession of meth, first-offense. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, law enforcement officers were called to a house about a domestic case. The victim of the case told officers that she and her husband got into a verbal altercation and she wanted law enforcement officers on scene while he got his personal items out of the house, the report states. The drugs were discovered by officers while on scene. No other action was taken. 

Driver yells at deputy during traffic stop

A Colleton County law enforcement officer stopped a man on Sidneys Road near Round O for failing to stop at a stop sign. While exiting the vehicle, the deputy states in his report that the man started to yell, “I know I was driving stupid!” While speaking to the driver, the deputy stated that dispatchers notified him that the truck was stolen, the report states. Then, the deputy asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, at which time he put the truck into drive to take off. The “truck took off,” and the deputy ensued in a car chase. No one was injured in the brief car chase. 

Dog stolen from yard 

A Colleton County resident’s dog was stolen out of his yard last week. 

According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the victim called 911 to report that someone took his full-size Doberman Pincher out of his fenced yard. The man said the dog was stolen on April 3. As of press deadline, there was no information on the stolen dog being located. 

Woods fire threatens nearby home

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a woods fire on Holly Ridge Lane that threatened a structure/house nearby. Officials with Colleton County Fire-Rescue said the spread seems to be accidental, and that the flames came from a nearby brush fire that had reached the residence. 

No other action was taken. 

Man facing kidnapping, assault charges against pregnant woman 

A pregnant Colleton County woman was held against her will by her child’s father. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the woman told authorities that her boyfriend assaulted her. She is currently 8 weeks pregnant and they have been dating for about 10 years, the report states. The man refused to allow the suspect to leave the residence or seek any help until after he left the resident. Once the man left the house, the woman was then able to seek medical help. She went to the Colleton Medical Center Emergency Room, where authorities were notified.
