Arrested after traffic stop
A man was arrested after a traffic stop on Dec. 14. The deputy attempted to pull the car over on Augusta Road for driving 73 mph in a 55 mph zone, but the driver didn’t stop until Drain Road. The vehicle passed the deputy’s car, eventually slowing down to the speed limit.
A small amount of marijuana and a loaded firearm were found in the vehicle.
The driver was arrested for failure to stop for a blue light, driving on a suspended license and two active warrants for pointing and presenting a firearm and additional warrants in St. George.
Shooting
into home
A resident of Green Pond Highway reported to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office that someone shot into her home on Dec. 8.
The resident said the family was asleep when they were awakened by about five gunshots. A bullet hole was found in the children’s room and a second in the kitchen ceiling.
Runs and wrecks
A suspect led CCSO deputies on a high-speed chase after deputies attempted to stop him for failure to stop when signaled. The pursuit started on Morris Circle and Proctor Street.
The driver wrecked and was arrested. The vehicle had been reported stolen, the driver’s license was suspended and he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, the report said.
He was taken to jail.
Over 100 packs of cigarettes taken
CCSO deputies responded to ACE Basin Parkway after store employees reported someone took 90 packs of Newport 100 non-menthol gold cigarettes and 48 packs of Newport menthol king cigarettes. The value was estimated at $2,080.
The suspect was a black male wearing a navy blue vest, white button shirt, blue jeans and a S.C. Palmetto baseball cap. He reportedly entered the manager’s office, hid the cigarettes in his shirt, jacket and jeans, then left.
Trailer taken from church
A person reported someone cut the chain and lock off the fence at a Robertson Boulevard church and took a 20-foot trailer. The trailer is described as having a window and wooden shelf on the left side, a double rear door and door along the right side.
The subject said the trailer’s tires had been removed after it was stolen before.
Dog reported shot
A resident on Memorial St. reported she saw a black male stand across the road and shoot a black and brown dog with a possible 9mm handgun. A blood trail was discovered, but the dog was not found.
Home broken into
Walterboro Police responded to an alarm at a home on Doyle Street and found the home had been ransacked. Two TVs, jewelry and two safe deposit boxes were reported missing.
In a separate building on the property, a window air conditioner was removed and burglary tools including a hammer, screwdriver and folding knife were found.
Catalytic
converters taken
Catalytic converters were reported missing at the following locations:
2106 Robertson Blvd., two Ford trucks;
1993 Bells Hwy., Chevy truck;
320 Jones Swamp Rd., two passenger vans.
