Playing before a packed house, Colleton Prep and Beaufort Academy gave their respective fans quite a game to watch. The game featured two powerhouse football teams in the region with a lot at stake for the end of the season.

CPA scored first on a 75-yard touchdown run to make the score 6-0. Beaufort Academy then scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 6-6. CPA got a touchdown pass in the second quarter to go up 13-6 at halftime.

Beaufort Academy scored in the third quarter to tie the game at 13-13. Colleton Prep managed to drive deep into Beaufort territory twice only to turn the ball over on downs.

Beaufort Academy scored the deciding score on a 60-yard touchdown pass with two minutes to play, taking a 20-13 lead. CPA received the kick-off and set up the final moments of the game.

Colleton Prep found themselves trailing 20-13 with under two minutes to play, needing to cover 72 yards to tie or win the game. The Warhawks connected on a long pass to get to the six yard line with less than a minute to play. They then got a six-yard touchdown run on fourth down, which brought the score to 20-19. CPA decided to go for two and the win, but the rushing attempt was stopped short of the end zone and Beaufort held on to win the game. This resulted in the first loss of the year for the Warhawks.

“I thought tonight was simply a good football game played between two really good teams. Unfortunately, they made one more play then we did and won the game. We will get back to work over the weekend to fix some of the areas where we struggled. The good thing is that we still have a game left to correct these things before we head to the playoffs. We just have to put this game behind us and move on,” said Coach Greg Langdale.

Friday night the Warhawks will host Palmetto Christian Academy in their last regular season game before the playoffs. Game time is 7:30 and is designated as senior night.
