Colleton Cougars 20 – May River 18

What. A. Game. The Cougars battled through two overtimes and came out on top in a nail-biting finish that had fans on their feet until the very last play!

Huge shoutout to the players for leaving it all on the field and to Cougar Nation for bringing the energy all night long!

This is what Friday Night Lights are all about!

Defensive Coordinator for the JV Cougars, Jermaine Clayton, commented that this win was “one for the history books; first time beating May River.” He credited both sides of the football, offense and defense for their “awesome” play. “These young guys, just like we have said, have a bright future ahead. We just have to keep trucking and get on the same page. Go Cougars!”

Coach J. Jerrideau, defensive line coach for the JV Cougars and defensive end coach for the varsity Cougars felt like the team had a good game plan coming into the game. “Shouts out to our defensive coordinators our head coach, and to the players for fighting hard, and not giving up even when it looked like it wasn’t going our way. That’s what it’s all about; turn the page, same page.”

Coach Rome weighed in saying “they had a great game and the Cougars won against May River in double OT 20-18. This is our first time in history beating May River. The guys stuck together, fought hard, were on the same page with discipline all the way down to the wire. I want to give a shout out to my team, my coaches, the players, the parents, everyone who came out tonight. Go Cougars!”
