The Colleton County Cougar Basketball team earned a Region VII-AAAA 82-50 win over Bluffton High School on Friday, February 4 on the road. Earlier in the week the Cougars fell 78-51 versus James Island High School. Colleton County is currently 6-13 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

In Colleton County’s big home win over Bluffton on Friday, February 4, the Cougars were led by Deshaun Blocker who scored 27 points in the game. Brian Hamilton added 16 points and Buckner scored 13 points. Other scoring included Footman 9, Dashawn McNeil 6, Winfield 5, Williams 4, and Hundley 2.

Bluffton was led by Linder with 19 points. Other scoring included Aiken 8, Yanez 7, Sampson 5, Washington 4, Brown 4, Ranburg 2, and Chaplin 2.

“We had two very different basketball games this week,” said Coach Matthew Mullins. “James Island was able to push around early and hit open 3’s and we could never get back into the game. Then, we turned around Friday against Bluffton and were able to be the more aggressive team from start to finish. It was great to see Deshaun Blocker, Adam Buckner, Dashawn McNeil, and Tyshawn Hundley all have a great game in what will most likely be the last home game of their career. With us beating Bluffton, we keep ourselves alive for the at-large bid in the playoffs. If we can beat Beaufort Tuesday, that will help a lot. All we can do is focus on what we can control and see what happens.”
