The Colleton County Lady Cougars dropped to 1-5 in Region VII-AAAA play after losing to Beaufort High School and Lucy Beckham (25-12, 25-8, 25-22).
Colleton County battled back against Beaufort after dropping the first two sets (25-14, 25-19) to win the next two (25-19, 25-22) but took the loss in the tiebreaker (15-10).
“Against Beaufort, it was a very tough game to lose,” said Coach Hannah Perritte. “We really held our own but didn’t move quick enough in the final set. Makenzy Hand led the defense at the net with six kills and nine blocks, followed by Bayleigh Crosby with five kills. Grace Cox played five sets with 68 assists. Whitley Weathers played her best defense tonight with 10 digs.”
“In our loss to Lucy Beckham, the girls really stepped it up in the last set but couldn’t catch up in time to fight back and win the rally,” said Perritte. “Grace Cox played the game with 40 assists and Bailey Cox had 15 digs. Whitley Weathers had 4 kills.”
Colleton County was scheduled to travel to Lucy Beckham Tuesday Oct. 6.
