Posted

Two teenagers were injured in a four-wheeler accident on Adams Road north of Cottageville Saturday afternoon October 21. A 16-year-old was driving with a 14-year-old on the back, when the large four-wheeler left the roadway and struck a driveway culvert causing the vehicle to overturn. Both occupants were ejected, and the four-wheeler rolled over on top of them. Several bystanders ran to the accident and lifted the vehicle off the boys. They held the four-wheeler and supported it until rescuers were able to remove the patients from the ditch. Both suffered multiple injuries. The 16-year-old received fractures as well. Firefighter-Paramedics treated both juveniles at the scene, which included bleeding control, splinting and pain medications. They were transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Children's Trauma Center at Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital at MUSC in Charleston. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics assisted with their care during the transport. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
