Construction Zone Accident on I-95

Posted

Six people were injured, two seriously, in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 near 42 mile marker on December 20. The two southbound vehicles collided in a construction zone when the Jeep went off into the median, while a Sebring convertible drove down an embankment and had a second collision with a tree. The Sebring received heavy damage and the adult occupants suffered multiple injuries. Fire-Rescue crews from Station 13 in Jonesville arrived within minutes and requested one additional Fire-Rescue ambulance. No medical helicopters were immediately available and the two occupants from the Sebring were transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The other four injured people were transported to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. I-95 SB was blocked for about 20 minutes and was then down to one lane for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
