Colleton Preparatory Academy Warhawks defeated the Spartanburg Day Griffins 28-3.
Head Coach Greg Langdale sums up the game:
“I thought tonight we ran the ball really well. Spartanburg Day has a really good team, and I thought they came out and played hard, especially early, but I thought we were able to run the ball pretty well tonight. Passed it enough to keep them honest. We were able to get some RPOs early that scored first drive. A little RPO made a good read on it. Baines Pierce made a long catch on it for a touchdown. But overall, I thought Jackson Jones and Garrett Sarvis just ran the ball hard all night. Tyler Omar coming there a little bit at the end, and ran it really hard. That’s a staple of our offense. When we can run the football, we can do a lot of things. We were able to run that counter all night and get behind that big lineman and run it, and I thought they did just a great job just getting behind their blocks and just getting positive yards, and we were constantly playing third and short all night, which really helped us defensively. Jackson Jones in the middle, just played unbelievable tonight. Had a great game against the run. I thought our secondary did a good job of shutting down the pass. They were able to get a couple of times on that little tight end scene. So we’ll get to work on that this week. See if we can’t get that corrected and get a few adjustments. Got to get to the drawing board quick. Got Hammond coming in here next Thursday night, one of the premier football programs in South Carolina, and SCISA ranks. So we’re interested to see how we’ll match up with them. So we’ll look forward to having a great week of practice and come out next week and see if we can have some success against Hammond.”
