Colleton Prep hires basketball coach

Basketball season is upon us and Colleton Prep was quick to grab the headlines naming Belinda McCoy to head up the basketball at CPA. Coach McCoy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with over 41 years of coaching experience at various levels of basketball.

Most recently, she has coached for 22 years at Patrick Henry. Prior to that, she spent the first few years coaching at Summerville High School under the legendary Theresa Kindle. McCoy was then as the first head basketball coach at Fort Dorchester High School where she was eventually named to the high school’s hall of fame basketball team.

McCoy has had an opportunity to watch CPA in person and on tape. She feels that there are definitely things that need to be improved on. McCoy says, ” We need to get better on defense, attack the basket when given the chance, and take care of the fundamentals of basketball. I intend to put the best 5 on the court that gives us the best chance to winning. Players will earn playing time base on their effort at practice.”

McCoy will be in charge of all four teams at CPA, however, head baseball coach Josh Craven was named as part of an agreement to help out McCoy during the season.
