With great sorrow, the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of three-year-old Carter Greene. Carter is the daughter of Colleton Detective Sgt. Daniel Greene and Ashley Taylor Greene.
Greene and his family were involved in a single-car crash around 11:30am on Round O Rd, Sunday, July30, when his county-issued SUV left the road, colliding into a tree. CARE Flight med-e-vaced his daughter to MUSC for medical treatment, where she was later pronounced deceased due to the severity of her injuries. Colleton Fire-Rescue also transported him, his current wife, and another child to MUSC to treat severe, non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and their MAIT Team are investigating the vehicle accident. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing policies per standard procedure. Greene was off duty during the incident. For additional questions regarding the collision, please contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
