Deputy Leslie Lawson received the Small Agency Officer of the Year award from Serve and Connect last month.
Deputy Lawson was recognized for her work with Greg’s Groceries, a signature program of Serve and Connect.
After the death of Officer Greg Alia, his wife Kassy Alia Ray founded Serve and Connect as a way to bring police and communities together. Greg’s Groceries allows Officer/Deputies to carry boxes of non-perishable shelf stable groceries in their vehicles to distribute to people they find in need. This not only meets and immediate need , but can open the door to getting other help through programs and organizations.
Most of Deputy Lawson’s deliveries were at school helping Colleton County students with “nutrition assistance.”
As an added bonus Serve and Connect got to meet K9 Annie.
Thank you Deputy Lawson for all your work in the community.
