Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Braydon Maulden on #firefighterfriday. Braydon, an Explorer Firefighter assigned to the Station 19 Platoon, joined the department in 2022. Here is a little more about Explorer Firefighter Maulden: Braydon’s stepfather, Firefighter-Paramedic Dan Barb, introduced Braydon to the fire service. He was motivated to help others after watching FF/P Barb selflessly rush away at any moment to help people in their time of need. He also enjoyed visiting his stepfather while on duty and wanted to know more about the trucks and the fire service. However, it was his mother, Kathy, who really pushed him to join the department. Braydon says, “It is the best decision I’ve ever made.” Braydon enjoys the Explorer program because he is able to help his community, ride, and train with the full-time firefighters, learn the trade, and attend Explorer training meetings. When Braydon is not in school or playing baseball, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and playing video games. Colleton County Fire-Rescue’s Explorer program is accepting new members (ages 14-17).
