Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Captain Mike Duffy on #firefighterfriday. Captain Duffy has faithfully served the community since 2013, and is the Station 19 Platoon Captain on “C” Shift.

Captain Duffy entered the fire service in 2007 in his hometown of Grove City, Ohio, and was a full time firefighter for Jackson Township Fire Department - Grove City, Ohio. Jackson Township was a special place; it is where Mike’s father retired in 2006. Growing up around the firehouse, Mike was very interested in the fire service and knew he wanted to be just like his father. In 2012, Mike relocated to South Carolina and accepted a Paramedic position at Lexington County EMS. Missing the fire service, he applied at Colleton County Fire-Rescue, and the rest is history. In 2017, Mike chased another childhood dream and became one of the original six Firefighter/Paramedics assigned to the CARE Flight program. He obtained his Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) and spent five years in the sky. While flying, he earned his Engineer, decided to leave CARE Flight and was promoted to Lieutenant for CCFR. In 2021, he was promoted to Captain and was assigned to the Station 19 Platoon on “C” Shift.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, their four children, and his three dogs. As a family, they enjoy camping and sneaking away to their favorite fishing spot. For more information visit Colleton County Fire Rescue Facebook.
