Colleton County Fire-Rescue Hold Preparedness Workshop

This year is predicted to be a very active hurricane season. On Thursday June 27th Colleton County Fire-Recues Emergency Management Division (EMD) hosted a Business Preparedness Workshop at the Colleton Civic Center. Dr. David Greene the Fire Rescue Deputy Chief and Emergency Manager spoke and introduced official from numerous state and local agencies to present on topics that are important to businesses to continue services in the event of an emergency that will interrupt normal business operations. Presenters included Donna Lamb from the Lowcountry Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Angela McAdoo of EIS Consulting speaking on IT Assets, Jennifer Ortiz from State Farm Insurance talking about filing claims, April Wilson from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and Stuart McAdoo of the Chamber of Commerce who co-hosted the event. Presentations were also given by Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy on the updated Hurricane Evacuation Zone changes and how to recognize the zones. Public Information Officer for Colleton County Fire Rescue KC Campbell gave and overview of Energy and Infrastructure Recovery and Personal Preparedness. The Workshop stressed that now is the time to prepare for an event not just before.
