Colleton County Athletic Hall of Fame to hold induction

The Colleton County Athletic Hall of Fame will induct former Colleton County athletes into its Hall of Fame October 17th. The ceremony will be held on the football field at Colleton County High School (150 Cougar Nation Drive) before kick-off at 7:00 pm. Please join in celebrating these athletes’ accomplishments.

The inductees, their sports, and honors are as follows:

Kendrae Hiers

Track and Tennis

Track: MVP, Senior Award, Leadership Award, Record Holder for 1600m and 3200m, 2-time State Qualifier.

Tennis: 5-time MVP 2006-2010, 3 time All Region, Most Career Wins, Most Wins in a Season, earned scholarship to Spartanburg Methodist College and Limestone College.

James (Jim) Elbert Ringer

Walterboro High School Wildcats

Class of 1965

4 Year Letterman in Track and Field, 3 Year Letterman in Football and Baseball, 2 Year Letterman in Basketball, A Tri-Captain for Wildcats Football 1964.

Senior Class President

35-year coaching career, 29 years as head coach, at schools in Aiken, Columbia, Conway, and Rock Hill. Won 227 games as a head coach. Won two State Championships in football at Rock Hill Division 4A where he served as Athletic Director and Head Coach for 22 years. Won two State Runners-Up Championships. The last three teams with Ringer as Head Coach compiled a record of 39-3.

Assistant Coach in the 1988 North-South Game, Head Coach of the 2002 Shrine Bowl Game. Coach of the Year in 1996, 2003, and 2004. 1997 Athletic Director of the Year. 2009 recipient of the North-South Football Game Dedication.

Member of the SC Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame- 2010 and SC Coaches Football Hall of Fame-2017.

Donald V. Robinson, Sr.

Class of 2006

Football

Linebacker and Defensive Back.

Played on and helped lead Cougars to become the Conference VIII Championship team. Team member for 4 years and starter for 2 years. Season record of 7 wins. Ended the year with 125 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 10 solo tackles, and 5 sacks. Played at Ft. Scott Community College after graduation, Eastern Arizona College, and Western New Mexico University.

Ronald S. Robinson, Sr.

Class of 2006

Football

Linebacker, Defensive Back, and Tight End.

Played on and helped lead Cougars to become the Conference VIII Champions. Played all 4 years and was defensive starter for two years.

All Conference-2005, Post & Courier All Lowcountry-2005, North South All Star Team-2005.

Ended the year with 145 tackles, 3 interceptions with 1 touchdown, 2 fumble recoveries with 1 touchdown, and 121 pass reception yards.

Played at Ft. Scott Community College, Eastern Arizona College, and Wayne State University
