Dr. George William Chisholm beloved son of the late Dr. David Luther Chisholm and the late Willa Dixon Chisholm, departed this life on July 23, 2025, following a brief illness. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, George began his education in the Colleton County school system before attending Boggs Academy in Keysville, Georgia. At an early age, George became a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Walterboro, South Carolina-a foundation that shaped his quiet strength and steady character throughout his life. Dr. Chisholm pursued higher education with distinction, first attending Morehouse College and then Benedict College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1965. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1974. Following medical school, he completed his postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He began his medical career as a faculty member at the University of Florida in Gainesville before settling into private practice in Orlando, Florida, where he would faithfully serve countless women and families over the years. He was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and held membership in the National Medical Association, among other professional organizations. Dr. Chisholm was known for his professional demeanor, exception care, and deeply private nature. His patients felt the love and concern he held for them, and in return they loved him to life-an uncommon testimony in today’s world. He had a dry wit that snuck up on you, a deep appreciation for jazz, a love for fine cars, and a quiet enjoyment of good wine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. David Luther Chisholm and Willa Dixon Chisholm, as well as his brother David L. Chisholm. Dr. Chisolm leaves to cherish the memory: his devoted cousins- Dr. Johnathan C. (Marilyn) Glen of Savannah, Georgia, Dr. Sheryllis Washington of St. Louis, Missouri, Alan Dixon of Daneville, Illinois, Arthur Ree Qander of Austin, Texas, Cassandra L. Hicks of Jacksonville, Florida, Patricia hicks Harley and husband Langston Harley, also of Jacksonville, Florida, Roland (Connie) Gardner of Beaufort, South Carolina, John Gardner of Charleston, South Carolina, and David Gordon Ulmer of Hardeeville, south Carolina. His is also fondly remembers by longtime friends Wes and Marver Carter of Windemere, Florida, and Tracy Edwards of Dallas, Texas, who served faithfully as his caregiver in his final season. Dr. George Chisholm lived a life marked by excellence, compassion, and quiet service. He will be deeply missed and long remembered. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. “An expert in his field, Dr. Chisholm is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics (ABOG).
