CCHS Volleyball Improves Record

The Colleton County Cougars played three games last week, winning one and losing two region games to Hilton Head and James Island. The Cougars did manage to defeat Lake Marion in a non-region game to improve their overall record to 6-3.

The Cougars lost to Hilton Head in straight sets, 25-14, 25-19, and 25-10. Carlie Erwin led the team in kills, managing 4, while Bailey Cox and Maggie Kennedy had 2 each. Carlie Erwin and Hannah Bunton had two aces defensively. Jewel Chambers led the team in defense with 3 digs, while Bunton had 5 blocks.

The team defeated Lake Marion 25-19, 25-10, and 25-11. They were led by Carlie Erwin and A. Daniel with 9 and 6 kills respectively. Offensively, Ashlyn Sarvis had 25 assists in ball handling while Bunton and Slocum had 4 and 3 aces.

Against James Island, the Cougars lost in straight sets 25-6, 25-18, and 25-11. Erwin had 4 kills, while Bunton contributed 3. Bailey Cox delivered 8 digs for the defense to go along with Erwin’s 5.

The Cougars will play in Bluffton on Thursday.
