CCHS career fair helps students find jobs

Eager career seekers attended a job fair held at Colleton County High School on Saturday Feb. 8 to fill out applications and meet with school district personnel.

Job openings available at the Colleton County School District brought in candidates anxious to work for the district and willing to be interviewed on the spot.

Teaching positions, student nutrition openings, custodial jobs and many other employment opportunities were accessible for anyone who wanted to apply.

Ellen Fitch, director of student nutrition and her assistants, prepared a continental breakfast for applicants and interviewers.

Job searcher Jimmy Mabbun was more than happy to be there and anxious to find work. “I am glad to be here, and hope to find a job that will fit me and my abilities,” said Mabbun. He was one of dozens who came prepared to find employment.

Cliff Warren, assistant CCSD superintendent, was responsible for the day’s plans and was excited by the possibilities of finding new hires.

“We had 20 who interviewed during our job fair,” said Warren. “We had several walk-ins who wanted more information on our support services such as bus, custodial and student nutrition. We will be offering contracts to several of the certified applicants,” he said.

The district may host another fair later in the spring but a firm date has not been set.
