Barn destroyed on Welles Lane

A small barn was destroyed in an evening fire in the 200 block of Welles Lane on Friday Aug. 28.

According to an incident report, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the barn behind the residence was on fire with flames visible from the structure at 9:14 a.m.

The first unit arrived to the find the single-story structure fully involved. The roof had already collapsed.

Firefighter-paramedics deployed one handline to extinguish the remains of the structure, the report said.

The building and the contents were destroyed. Crews were on the scene for about two hours performing overhaul.

Water supply was conducted using tenders.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no one was injured.

Two people were reportedly living inside the barn, but they were not at home when the fire occurred.
