Attorney Maryann Blake has been appointed to the South Carolina Bar Foundation Board of Directors. She completed a three-year term on the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors in May. “I welcome this opportunity to continue to serve our State. I am honored to serve on the Bar Foundation Board as it is the charitable arm of the Bar and helps people across South Carolina,” Blake stated.

The Bar Foundation provides funding for three primary categories of law-related nonprofits:  Administration of Justice, Civil Legal Aid and Law-Related Education. Since 1971, the South Carolina Bar Foundation has awarded more than $50 million to various law-related organizations throughout South Carolina. The Foundation provides assistance to victims of domestic violence, homeless families, persons denied access to necessary health care services, victims of discrimination, children in need of special education, targets of consumer fraud and the elderly. The Foundation also provides opportunities for students throughout the state from elementary school and up to learn about the legal system. Recent recipients of grants from the Bar Foundation include Hopeful Horizons, The Center for Heirs Property Preservation, USC Salkehatchie-Forensic Chemistry Lab, and South Carolina Legal Services to name a few.
