The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery at the Bells Crossroads Family Dollar, located on Lowcountry Highway. The incident occurred on November 12th and 10:16pm.
The Sheriff’s Office press release stated that witnesses reported a male suspect, described as a Black male wearing a green long -sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and a red bandana covering his face, threw a large rock through the locked front door to gain entry to the business. The suspect was armed with a handgun and forced two employees to unlock the office and safe. He then instructed them place the cash into his backpack. The suspect fled the area on foot with approximately $4000 dollars in cash.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) as investigators explore the possibility that this case may be connected to a similar incident in a neighboring county.
