Community Innovations (CI) successfully hosted the third Annual Literary Tea, bringing together readers, writers, and book lovers. The event featured Mistress of Ceremonies Melissa Buckner and began with a prayer by Reverend Samuel Spann.
Highlights included a tea quiz by Rhonda Edwards, singing from 2025 Colleton Voice
Winner Jasmine Cheryl Asango, and a Writer’s Contest honoring winners Harmony Wright (Child), Lois Agbley-Oyeh (Teen), and Nadine Johnson (Adult), each receiving cash prizes. Fashion contests added fun with Zion Heyward winning Cutest outfit (Child), Corine Dais Howard winning Best Hat (Women), and Larry Mazyck winning
Best Jacket (Men). The Literacy Spotlight showcased Colleton Middle School Young
Authors with four young authors in attendance: Lois Agbley-Oyeh, Giselle Diaz
Miguel, Kristen-Josh Ebanks, and Jasmine Cheryl Asango. Guests met Palmetto State Authors: Patricia Broadney, Rhonda Edwards, Nadine Johnson, and Lillie Mazyck.
The CI Announcements from Delbert DuBois encouraged visitors to the CI website. The evening ended with closing remarks by Ms. Literacy (program coordinator), a book signing by Palmetto State Authors and Young Authors. Attendees enjoyed delicious refreshments prepared by Stacy See, who prepared delectable finger foods for the 40 guests; Melissa Olaru, who made the sandies; and Wendy Tyree, who made teapot cookies. Special thanks to the greeters: Cherry Keaise and Paula Creel-Munoz. Special thanks to Delbert DuBois, Ephraim Green, Dawn Davis, and the Frazier brothers for their help with decorations and cleanup. Community Innovations celebrates local authors and the joy of reading, with hopes for another successful year of story sharing in the community.
