An ‘Unbelievable God’ Who Bestows ‘Uncommon Favor’!

“A teenaged boy, playing a computer game, heard a knock on the front door. He chose to ignore it. Soon his mother came downstairs and asked, ‘Did you answer the door?’

“Not taking his eyes from the screen, the boy replied, ‘I didn’t want to; someone may have been there, and I’d have to stop my game.’

“We often deny God’s existence for many reasons. We can be so preoccupied acquiring material things or fulfilling personal ambitions that we think our plans will be upset if we concede that there is a God. God reveals Himself in so many ways… Every person, without exception, hears God knocking… But many of us don’t want to answer just in case someone is there, and we have to stop what we are doing” (Free Christian Illustrations).

At times in our lives, some of us are guilty of being deaf to His knock. What if God were to turn a deaf ear to us when we cry out to Him for our needs? Then what would happen to us? Denying God’s existence or turning a deaf ear to Him when He needs us for an assignment can bring about dire consequences. There are many of those examples in the Bible, such as Jonah, who ran from God. I am here to tell you as a witness; run from God all you want, but He will “slow-walk you down”! God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere, so run, but you cannot hide from Him. If you answer God when He knocks, not being ashamed of Him, what Bountiful Blessings He will bestow upon you! Revelation 3:20 (ESV) confirms this, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, as I watched the women’s game between the University of South Carolina and Iowa, I did it with an abundance of excitement, rooting for the Gamecocks! As it came to an end with a dynamic victory for Carolina, OMG…! When Coach Dawn Staley was interviewed about this victory, immediately, she praised God, indicating He is “an unbelievable God,” and this is “uncommon favor.” Thank you, Coach Staley, for not being ashamed of who God is in your life. Always abound in the faith, and never leave home without Him!
