Alex Murdaugh has been indicted on additional federal charges in the latest chapter in the Murdaugh saga. Murdaugh is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, one count of bank fraud, five counts of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and fourteen counts of money laundering. Murdaugh could face up 480 years in prison as well as accruing fines up to $13 million. Murdaugh’s attorneys issued a statement that Murdaugh has been cooperating with all federal agencies and offices in their investigation. They anticipate the charges will be resolved without going to trial. Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty.
