Accident on Augusta Highway

Three teenagers were seriously injured in a single vehicle high speed accident on Augusta Highway (SC Hwy 61) near Missiontown Road Tuesday, August 18. Another motorist reported the car in the ditch. First responders arrived to find a Kia Soul in the woods against a tree. The small car suffered heavy front-end damage. Two unrestrained 15-year-old patients suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The partially restrained 18-year-old driver also suffered injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics requested two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances. The vehicle occupants were all treated at the scene prior to transport. The 15-year-old patients were taken to the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The 18-year-old driver was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
