Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Jonathan Brown on #firefighterfriday. Firefighter-Paramedic Brown is assigned to the Station 1 Platoon on “C” Shift. Here is more information about Firefighter-Paramedic Brown:

Jonathan joined the military after graduating high school and faithfully served until he medically retired. After entering the civilian world, he picked up a few odd jobs here and there while attending college. “I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life after leaving the military,” said Jonathan. He decided to take a trip to visit his brother in Alabama. Little did he know, this trip would open his eyes to a whole new world. His brother, a Firefighter-Paramedic, gave Jonathan a small glimpse into the world of Fire/EMS. This sparked his interest to know more about the fire service and led him to enroll in EMT school at Trident Tech. After obtaining his EMT, he sought his brother’s advice again and was encouraged to attend paramedic school versus fire school. Jonathan moved to Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Herzing University for Paramedicine. During his last year of college, he attended Alabama Fire School. After earning his paramedic and fire training, he was hired by Homewood Fire Department. He spent four years learning the trades and decided to return to South Carolina to be closer to his parents. Jonathan accepted a job at Berkeley County EMS and started researching fire based EMS systems. He stumbled across Colleton County Fire-Rescue and decided he wanted to be a part of the department. He applied and was hired in June 2022 and hasn’t looked back.

During his time off, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and spending time with his friends and family. Most of all, he loves being with his best friends, Mello and Mr. Hugs, his dog and cat, respectively.
