Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Charlie Jones on #firefighterfriday. Firefighter-Paramedic Jones is assigned to the Station 7 Platoon on “A” Shift. Here is more information on Firefighter-Paramedic Jones:

At a young age, Charlie was fascinated with Fire and Emergency Medical Services and felt compelled to help others. He joined Dillon County Fire Station 9 as a volunteer firefighter and knew he wanted to pursue firefighting as a career. Charlie obtained formal fire training and went on to get his EMT and Paramedic certifications. Looking for a department where he could utilize both his fire training and medical training, he applied to Colleton County Fire-Rescue. He joined the department in November 2016, and even though he commutes from Dillon County every three days, he says, “It’s worth the drive!” Charlie really values the family conducive environment that Colleton offers. He has three children, two of whom live at home. His step-daughter is a veteran and lives in Texas; his son (24) has Fragile X Syndrome and Autism; and he adopted his daughter (9). The two youngest children never turn down an opportunity to ride in a fire truck or ambulance, and they have even accompanied Charlie in a fire truck for the Walterboro Christmas Parade. They love to visit or video chat with him when he is on duty. Not forgetting his roots, he remains an active member of Dillion Fire Station 9 and has served as the training Captain a few times.

In his time off, he enjoys assisting with training at his volunteer department, teaching CPR, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
