The Walterboro Rotary Club picked up litter along Ireland Creek Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as a part of the “Keep Walterboro Beautiful” campaign. The club chose this location and date because of its annual Ireland Creek Bridge Run that was held on Thursday, October 23. The run is an annual fundraiser for the Walterboro Rotary Club to support Rotary International efforts and locally by supporting a scholarship for USC-Salk and our local First Steps program. The run is a one-mile timed loop around West Washington Street Bridge and Forest Hills Road Bridge in downtown Walterboro along Ireland Creek.
The Walterboro Rotary Club has been existence for almost 80 years. Rotary International is recognized as the world’s first volunteer service organization and was founded in 1906 in Chicago. Their motto is “Service Above Self”. The Rotary Club supports the eradication of polio and providing clean water on an international level. Alzheimer’s research is a priority as a
District project and locally the Club funds a scholarship as well as many other community projects.
