Walterboro City Council held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, March 3rd. Kimberly Varn from the Lowcountry Council of Governments gave a presentation on the CDBG Needs Assessment Hearing. Patricia Fleming, Tourism Director and Main Street Manager for the City of Walterboro, gave a detailed presentation of plans for celebrating the City of Walterboro’s Bicentennial this year.
Under New Business, City Council passed a resolution to formally recognize and offer commendation to Greg Pryor for eight years of distinguished service on City Council to the City of Walterboro.
Under Committee Reports, Ladson Fishburne, Chairman of the City Improvement Committee, reported that they have eight commercial and six residential cases open. James Broderick, Chairman of the Walterboro – Colleton County Airport Commission, reported that flight activity has increased resulting in more fuel sales. Rehabilitation on runway 523 will begin in April and construction on the new fuel farm is almost complete. Judy Bridge, Chairperson of the Budget Committee, reported that budget requests have been made and the City Manager and Finance Director are working to put together a working budget, and everything is running on schedule.
