The Colleton County chapter of The Citadel Club held it largest annual fundraiser February 24. The fundraiser provides scholarships for Colleton County students who choose to attend The Citadel.
The event was held at White Wood and featured catfish stew, oysters, perlo, and a variety of hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Available for auction were and AR-15, handgun, and a shotgun with “The Citadel” embossed on the stock. T-shirts, hats, and koozies were available for purchase. Entertainment was provided by Andrew Beam, Joe Taylor, and Bryan Compton.
A special guest appearance was made by G3, The Citadel’s official mascot, escorted by his entourage.
Local Citadel alumni were out in force, some from as far back as Class of 1962.
It was a night of good food, good drink, and good company.
Over the past 8-9 years close to $200,000 has been raised that has gone on to help fund yearly scholarships for any student from Colleton County that attends The Citadel as a cadet.
