Two people were seriously injured in a single vehicle accident on I-95 Northbound near mile marker 51, Tuesday morning February 11th. The northbound vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed, entered the woods, and struck several trees. The car suffered heavy damage. A small child was also in the car, secured in a child safety seat and was not injured. An adult male and an adult female both suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Colleton County Fire-Rescue ambulance was assigned to the incident. Firefighter-Paramedics treated both patients at the scene. The male patient was transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The female patient and the child were both transported by Fire-Rescue to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
