The Supreme Court ruled Thursday, June 29 that affirmative action admission policy used at Harvard and North Carolina universities are unconstitutional. Going forward all universities can no longer consider race and some other factors when deciding on the admission of students. However, universities are allowed to consider a candidate’s conversation about how race affected their lives either through discrimination, inspiration, etc. Applicant’s may write about their experiences, and college admission counselors may weigh the essays alongside the applying persons application, test scores, grades, and extracurricular activities in their decision.
