This week’s spotlight in on Denise Godley-Givens a stay-at-home mom and virtual international Instructor for students all over the world. Her classes are in the mornings from 4am until 9am which leaves her the rest of the day to home school and spend with her children.

China because there was a need for English teachers in China. Godley-Givens started work for a company called VIP kids. In 2021, the company that She was working for closed after the Chinese government came in and enacted a law that only native Chinese people can teach English in China. They don't want Westerners teaching English. The company closed but families that she worked with said they really want to keep taking classes. Godley-Givens set up her own tutoring company and now I tutor children all around the world.

Women teachers that had worked with VIP kids connected with Facebook Groups, one of those was Christians of VIP kid and a teacher there said listen, “I found this church in Hong Kong. They are a part of China but they're not a part of China and have 24 years left on their treaty that makes them a special autonomous region. So, they still have freedoms that they don't exactly have in mainland China. There was a church over there that was taking advantage of COVID and reaching out to people with Bible schools. In March of this year, the church in Hong Kong said they're dropping restrictions do you want to visit. She and her family spent the month of July in Hong Kong teaching Bible stories in English. The program had 1700 students sign up for our Bible school in the first 10 days.

Denise homeschools her children. It works for their lifestyle she says, “We have a very large homeschool community in this area started a homeschool Co-Op several years ago. Having that accountability from other families meeting together makes a very organized structure. The biggest part of homeschooling is that each child is an individual. None of my children learn the same way. They are not on the same track as anyone else but they're on their individual tracks and they are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing.” All four of her children were home schooled with the oldest, Noah, graduating in 2021.

As a Family, they like to camp. “We try to do that once a month, we go out camping, whether it's with the scouts or just with our family together that is camping, fishing, and kayaking.

Godley-Givens is also a baker. I bake in the commercial kitchen on Thursday nights. I do. I bake about 150 to 165 loaves of bread each week, and I sell them through the Colleton Commercial Kitchen and Sunny Day farms.

When asked what to she would do if money was no object. She said, “I would buy an RV and take my kids to every national park and travel internationally for the experience.

Denice married her husband Joseph Givens in 2003 and have four boys, Noah, Jelena Michael, Micah, and Ezra. She believes because we are constantly changing, evolving and we adapt to that. That's how you grow.
