Spotlight - Clayso Wrice

Posted

This week’s Spotlight is on Clayso Wrice owner of Blooming Innovations 2. Clayso was born and raised Colleton County and is the son of Rudolph and Ruth Wrice. He has three sisters and three brothers. His father was a log truck driver. The family was very close and growing up in Islandton. Wrice’s mom was a big influence on the family. “My mom is probably one of the best bakers in the community. She was always one of the most favorite people, because she was that lady that if you had a problem, no matter who you are, what family you were from, you came to Miss Ruth’s house. She always had a big meal. She never cooked for just us, you know. Like I said, there were actually eight of us, you know, but, she never cooked for just for the eight of us, when she cooked, she cooked for everybody, her pots are always really full. My mom was one of the best cooks in the community. She came from a family of cooks, people who prided themselves on preparing delicious meals and home cooking. She passed on her skills to my siblings and my sisters. My mom taught them. I remember my mom giving strict cooking lessons, very strict cooking lessons. In those days, I was glad I wasn’t a daughter, you could hear her through the house. No, not that much of this, too much of that. So, you know, she was very, very particular about putting meals together.”
