County residents are reminded that Fire-Rescue provides and installs free smoke detectors in homes. County Council funds the safety initiative for residents located in the County Fire District, which includes the unincorporated areas of Colleton County and the Towns of Cottageville, Lodge, Smoaks and Williams. Appointments can be made for firefighters to come to your home and install smoke detectors by calling Fire-Rescue Headquarters at (843) 539-1960. There is no charge for this important service.
