Colleton County Fire-Rescue and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Ritter Road and Hendersonville Hwy in reference to a separate report of gunshots and a motor vehicle accident, February 26. Personnel arriving on scene located a single vehicle on its roof in the woods. The vehicle was unoccupied and there were no patients located at the scene.
Approximately 100 spent shell casings were located at the intersection near the collision scene and the crashed vehicle had several bullet holes in the doors. Detectives processing the scene determined the wrecked car was reported stolen through the North Charleston Police Department. Additionally, two firearms were recovered from the vehicle.
This incident was reported a short time after a pair of drive-by shootings occurred in the same area. At this time, no injuries have been reported. The incidents are believed to be connected and remain under investigation.
