A teenager’s quick actions help prevent additional damage to a mobile home Sunday morning July 23. At 11:01 the 15-year-old noticed a fire near an electrical outlet in a bedroom at his family’s mobile home located at Pynes Community Road. He closed the door to the bedroom and cut off the power to the home, then called 911. A passing motorist also called 911 reporting a fire coming from a window at the residence. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and quickly doused the remaining fire in the bedroom. One wall and some furnishings in the room were damaged. The fire damage was contained to the bedroom. The young man safely exited the home and led a large dog to safety. The fire was electrical in nature and started at a wall outlet in the bedroom.
