Walterboro City Council held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 11th. Under new business, City Council approved an ordinance amending the business license ordinance of the City of Walterboro to update the class schedule as required by Act 176 of 2020 and a series ordinance providing for the issue and sale of waterworks and sewer system improvement revenue bonds in the amount of $12 million.
Also under new business, an ordinance to amend the unified development ordinance to provide for changes to multi-family developments was approved. A resolution to express the intention of the City of Walterboro to cause the city to be reimbursed with the proceeds of tax-exempt obligations and a resolution to certify the results of the November 4, 2025, Municipal General Election were passed. A request to close streets for the Annual Christmas Parade to be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 6:15 PM and a request for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on January 18, 2026, at 2:30 PM were approved. Councilmember James Broderick was elected as Voting Delegate at the 2025 National League of Cities City Summit.
