Motor vehicle accident on I-95

An adult male received critical injuries in a single vehicle motor vehicle accident on I-95 near the 55-mile marker northbound, Monday morning July 24. The northbound Ford pickup truck left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck several trees in the median. The truck received heavy damage, and the unrestrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man while he was still in the vehicle and had to extricate the man from the wrecked vehicle. He was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics were onboard to assist with his care during the transport. I-95 in the area of the accident was down to one lane for approximately one hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. For more information visit www.colletonfire.com.
