MiraSol Health opens new branch in Walterboro

Tuesday, June 9th an established name in healthcare opened its new office with a ribbon cutting on Washington Street in Walterboro. MiraSol Health has been in operation for “over 40 years…providing compassionate care and guidance for those in our community experiencing serious illness, end-of-life, and grief.”

MiraSol Health was founded in 1982 under the name Hospice Volunteers of the Lowcountry as a 501(c)(3). James Dismond, Chief Executive Officer shared MiraSol currently serves approximately 300 patients per day, compared to 42 patients when they first began their journey. They also have one of the only doctors who physically goes and sees patients in their homes and utilizes telehealth. Patients get full access to a physician when they sign up for care with MiraSol. Dismond go on to say, “We have 130 volunteers that dynamically pour into our patients and patient families. They sit with patients, they provide bereavement support for patients, telehealth and telephone calls for patients, pet therapy, and so much more. Without our volunteers we could not do it.” CEO Dismond thanked the Chamber of Commerce for their welcome and expressed his pleasure of opening the new office on “Main Street.”
