The Ruffin High School Alumni presented a scholarship to a local Colleton County High School senior on Friday. The award ceremony for the Odessa Stephens Memorial Educational Scholarship was held May 27 at the Colleton County Memorial Library. The scholarship, given by the Ruffin High School Alumni in honor of Odessa Stephens, was presented to Genesis Frazier, a senior at Colleton County High School. Odessa Stephens was a local educator at the Rosenwald School in Ruffin for 37 years. After Stephens’ tenure at Rosenwald, she moved on to the former Ruffin High School to teach English. The scholarship is in her honor and helps students from the Ruffin community attend college.
