Reading the Bible with me? Then grab your pen and journal and find the book of Isaiah, chapters 48-51. It amazes me, as I read this book, how many times God says “Listen to Me” or “Pay attention to Me.” He says that eight times in these chapters alone. It is we, not God, who have some issues with listening for the voice of God. Too many of us have learned to pray by rote. We bow or kneel, and immediately start talking. We do our habitual quiet time with God, doing more talking than listening, and we head out into the world hoping to do something that brings God pleasure. A quiet time devoid of reading and listening to the Spirit is not really a quiet time.
God is aching to speak to those who will listen. So, take time for God to speak to you through His word or His Spirit. It will change your life!
