The Threat of Socialism/Communism is Real
While it may not be true that history repeats itself, we do see events in the past that are similar to what is happening today. We read American History and find quotes from Alexis Tocqueville, Alexander Fraser Tyler, and Benjamin Franklin that can be directly applied to America today.
Perhaps the biggest challenge to our future is the Communist Progressive Socialist candidates that threaten the future of our largest city and center of commerce for America. One of our major political parties is supporting the belief that “FREE BENEFITS” can be given by this proposed Socialist plan. Leading Liberal democrats are supporting this man and his program of socialism.
This “Free Stuff” began under President Johnson and his “War on Poverty”. Over time, more and more benefits have been added to this list of “Free Stuff”. Each election since then has featured candidates that promised to give more and more to certain groups. The result has been the creation of a National Debt of over $36 trillion dollars that threatens the future of our country. Still, we see these groups demanding more and more from power seeking politicians that are willing to give in to them.
From our history we hear Benjamin Franklin say: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.”
Wisdom from Alexis de Tocqueville: “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”
And this message from 18th century historian Sir Alexander Fraser Tyler: “A democracy can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses.”
It only makes sense that when the majority of voters believe they deserve more from their government, their selfishness and laziness will lead to our downfall. We should listen to those men of history and heed their warning that Socialism destroys a Republic.
