RUFFIN – Mr. David Allen Jones, 72, of Ruffin, entered into rest Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Born July 17, 1952, in the Jonesville community of Colleton County, he was a son of the late Edward Harvard Jones and the late Lessive Hughes Jones. He worked in the maintenance department of the United States Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort and following his time there worked as a heavy equipment operator for SBG-EEG in Ladson. David was an outdoorsman who dearly loved hunting, fishing, and shrimping, especially turkey hunting and “giggin”. Surviving are: two children, Trent Jones and his wife Monica of Islandton and Alexis Jones Hiers and her husband Bryan of Ruffin; a sister, Linda Jones Lamb of Walterboro; nine grandchildren, Caleb Jones (Lindsey), Breanna Jones (Chase), Jadah Searson (Ethan), Cairah Searson (Ethan), Cameron Jones (Kallie), Justin Searson (Briana), Bryan Hiers, Braeden Hiers, and Bentley Hiers; five great grandchildren, Adalyn Jones, Everly DeLonge, Greyson King, Josie Jones, and Kaiden King; and a nephew, Ronnie Lamb, Jr. and his family; and his beloved K9 companion, “Bo”. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ronnie Lamb. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Jonesville Cemetery located near Yemassee, South Carolina.
