Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG) held an Induction and Installation Ceremony in late November to welcome its new members. The ceremony was held at the CCHS PAC Center and “recognized the personal and academic triumphs of these exceptional students.” The welcome, presentation of colors, and The National Anthem was given by JAG student Aidyn Shipman. Opening remarks were given by Uirica Bodison, Principal of Colleton County High School and closing remarks were delivered by Superintendent Jessica Williams. The Keynote Speaker was Ms. Nicole Williams, BSN, RN.

Various JAG students conducted much of the ceremony. Justin Strickland recited the Career Association Creed, Arionna Stephens introduce JAG Officers, Morgan McMillian read a poem and called for a moment of silence for members no longer with them, and Kendall Johnson introduced the guest speaker. Mrs. Lane and Mr. Johnson, coordinators for the JAG program in CCSD introduced the new JAG presidents Cherish Hamilton and Kennedy Graham. Mrs. Lane and Mr. Johnson then announced the newest JAG members and presented them with their certificate and pin.

Keynote speaker, Nicole Williams, delivered a speech that was specifically tailored for the JAG students. Ms. Williams is also a graduate of Colleton County High School and a past member of the JAG program. With her unique perspective of the participants before her, Williams delivered her speech to them. The audience was welcome to listen, but Williams’ words were for these students and the encouragement and strategies she spoke about was for their ears to hear, take, and use. She shared her own struggles with her career path and how what she learned in JAG enable her to stay on her chosen path. She also encouraged the students to fully embrace their motto of “Your Voice, Your Power, Your Future!!”, by making sure members advocate for themselves using their voice to further their plans and propel them on towards their futures.
