Interim Superintendent Jessica Williams’ message for the 2023-2024 school year is positivity. The motto: “It’s all about the kids. The time is now”. This is Interim Superintendent Williams’ call to action. Her voice of positivity will be the earmark of the upcoming school year. Mrs. Williams is excited about the opportunity to serve her community and with her expectation to have an incredible school year she will lead by example into the 2023-2024 academic season. “Open and collaborative communication” is also part of the agenda for this upcoming year. Her goal is to bring the parents and guardians into the education process in order to achieve the best results for our students. Mrs. Williams comments it takes a village to raise a child and we want our children to have a community that genuinely cares for them. Interim Superintendent Williams will strive to ensure strong educational programs this year and will do so by utilizing her strengths as a people person, as well as her extensive experience in the education field.

Jessica Williams is a native of Colleton County. During 34 years of service in the district she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Mrs. Williams worked to build positive school-community relationships as well as provide a positive school environment. Mrs. Williams has co-written grants to enhance STEM experiences for elementary students in the district through the First Lego League Robotics Program. Additionally, under her leadership, the district was awarded grants to enhance summer literacy programs. She taught elementary music for 19 years at Forest Hills Elementary School and during her career as a music teacher, she was named Teacher of the Year for her dedication to the profession and her passion for excellence.

Interim Superintendent Williams asks that the community support the efforts of the district; for community leaders to invest time, energy, and resources into students, and we all strive to have positive influence in the student’s lives. Mrs. Williams declared “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. Let’s unify ourselves for our future generation!”. For more information visit www.colleton.k12.sc.org
