Winning three games in convincing fashion deserves being called impressive, with two of those victories coming at the expense of Hilton Head Island High School, and the third a pounding defeat of West Ashley High School.

In the first game against Hilton Head, the Cougars wasted little time, as they got three strong innings from Bailey Cox. At bat, Mckayla Chisolm, Shandi Brown and Lanasia Sanders each collected two hits, with Sanders knocking in five RBIs; another two RBIs came at the bat of Mackenzie Pellum. By game’s end, the Cougars won, 16-0.

Not only did the Cougars kept Hilton Head scoreless in the second game, Sanders pitched three innings of no-hit softball.

Teammates Chisolm had four hits while Cox and Maggie Kennedy had three and two hits, respectively. On top of that, Christasia Holmes and Sanders knocked in two RBIs apiece. By the time the dust settled, the Cougars had drubbed Hilton Head, 20-0.

The deluge of runs continued when they faced West Ashley. Not only did they score early and often, they also dominated defensively, getting six strong innings from Cox, who struck out three and only allowing four hits altogether.

When at bat, Jordon Slocum and Sanders each had three hits, while Holmes added another two hits. Both Holmes and Sanders drove in three RBIs, with Slocum contributing two.

The final score stood at 14-4.

The Cougars now have a 7-1 record on the young season.
