The Colleton Prep football traveled to open the season at Florence last week. The Hawks would eventually trail 15-0 before cutting the score to 15-13 by halftime. Coach Greg Langdale said, “we would have been real easy for the kids to get discourage and lay down, but the guys kept fighting and we were able to cut the lead to two points by halftime.”

The Hawks were led offensively by brothers Cole and Caleb Davis as they did a remarkable job rushing the football. Cole would rush for 241 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns. Caleb would rush for 123 yards on eight carries and scoring two touchdowns. Walker Bryan would catch 3 receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. The War Hawks would finish with over 400 yards of total offense,

Defensively the Hawks were led on defense by Raleigh Obenaus with eight tackles while Drew Rushton and Cayson Warner each contributing six tackles each.

“I thought our guys played with a lot of intensity and gave a real good effort. We got off kind of slow with the offensive line but that could be expected with the lack of experience up front. Once they settled down we were able to rush for over 380 yards. Same thing with our defense as they got off to a slow start, but again that can be expected playing a new defense,” said Langdale.

“This was a big win for our program as Florence Christian is one of the top 3-A programs in the state. Good all-around win for us and hopefully we can carry this momentum as we play Northwood Academy at War Hawk field Friday night”, said Langdale.
