Fire-Rescue hosted a farm rescue class at Forks Road Farms in Islandton Saturday & Sunday 11-12 February. The comprehensive course taught responders about farm equipment, farm animals, farm implement operations and rescue techniques related to farming equipment. 26 Colleton County Firefighters participated. They learned about grain bin extrication and the many challenges associated with farming equipment. The owners of the farm provided space for the classroom sessions, as well as the use of their equipment. They also provided lunch for the students on both days. Keith Wilson, Deputy Director for Lancaster County Fire Rescue was the lead instructor. Another session is planned later in the year.
